Apple Store Reopening Timeline: January & February
January & February saw the closure of all of Apple’s 42 retail locations in mainland China in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
This post is the first of a multi-entry series covering the Apple Store retail closing and reopening strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This entry includes the months of January & February 2020.

Apples announced that at least one retail in China has closed - the Qingdao Vientiane City location in Qingdao - with other store locations in China reducing their operating hours.
January 29, 2020
Location: 🇨🇳 China
Apple announces the closure of two additional stores in eastern China: Wonder City in Nanjing & Tahoe Plaza, with plans to reopen on February 02, 2020.

FEBRUARY
February 01, 2020

Apple temporarily closes all 42 of its retails stores in mainland China, initially quoting a reopening date of February 09, 2020.

Apple reopens all five retail locations in Beijing with reduced operating hours, crowd control, and temperature checks.

Apple reopens an additional 10 locations across China, including the Qingdao retail location, the first to be closed by the Coronavirus outbreak at the time. Apple Stores that reopened:
Hong Kong Plaza, Nanjing East Road, and Pudong outlets in Shanghai
Vientiane City and Taikoo Li in Chengdu
Hang Lung Plaza and Centennial City in Dalian
Pearl River New City and Sky Plaza in Guangzhou

February 24, 2020

Twenty-nine of Apple's 42 retail locations in mainland China have reopened.
According to AppleInsider:
"Thirteen Apple retail locations in China remain closed, including stores in Shanghai International Trade iapm, Nanjing Jinmaohui, Suzhou, Hangzhou Vientiane City, West Lake, Xiamen New Life Plaza, Tahoe Plaza. All Apple retail stores in Tianjin and Chongqing, each of which hosts three outlets, are still shuttered."
